The following preferences are stored only on your device, using the standard platform preferences store (SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS). None of this is transmitted anywhere.
On iOS, the live Grid Compass reads your device heading, which Apple provides through Core Location. The app therefore requests "While Using" location permission solely to read your compass heading. On Android the compass reads the magnetometer directly and needs no location permission.
The Grid Compass reads your phone's magnetometer (and accelerometer) to rotate the dial in real time. These readings are used only to draw the compass on-screen and are never stored or transmitted.
The app has exactly one outbound network use: when you tap "Send email" on the Support page, your device's default mail client opens with a pre-filled draft. The actual transmission (if you choose to send) is handled by your mail app, not Ham Engineering.
No background network activity. No automatic updates. No telemetry pings.
Ham Engineering is safe for operators of every age. Because the app:
it complies with COPPA, GDPR-K, and equivalent child-privacy frameworks by design.
All preferences are stored only on your device. To delete everything Ham Engineering knows about you, simply uninstall the app — that's it. No account to close, no server data to request deletion of.
Ham Engineering does not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. It uses standard open-source Flutter packages (shared_preferences, url_launcher, flutter_pdfview, flutter_compass, geolocator, share_plus, path_provider) — each of which processes data on-device only.
If anything in our privacy stance ever changes (it won't lightly — privacy is a core design value), the updated policy will appear at this URL and ship in a new version of the app.
