Plain-language summary
Ham Imaging is an offline SSTV picture app for amateur radio. We (Unixeer) run no server, keep no account for you, and collect no analytics, tracking or ads. Your callsign, grid, email, settings and images stay on your device. The app uses the microphone to decode pictures off the air and the camera/photo library to pick images you want to send. When you transmit, your image and callsign go out over the air as public amateur radio — that is the operator's own licensed action.
1. Information We Store Locally
The following is stored only on your device. Ordinary preferences use the standard platform store (SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS). None of this is sent to any Unixeer server.
- Callsign — used to overlay your identity on transmitted images and to pre-fill the Support form.
- Maidenhead grid locator — if you enter it; used for display and image overlays.
- Email address — if you enter it; used to pre-fill the Support form.
- App preferences — theme (light/dark), font scale and your selected SSTV mode/options.
- Your image gallery — the pictures you receive and the images you transmit, saved on the device with their mode, time and frequency for your own reference.
2. Microphone & Receiving Pictures
Ham Imaging uses your device microphone to listen to the SSTV audio coming from your radio's speaker and to decode it into a picture. Audio is processed only while you are receiving.
- The incoming sound is turned into an image on your device — that is the core purpose of receive mode.
- We (Unixeer) do not record, store or receive your audio on any server. For event modes the app may save a recording of a pass locally on your device so you can re-decode it; that recording stays on the device.
- If you do not grant microphone access you cannot decode live pictures off the air.
3. Camera, Photos & Saving Images
To transmit, you choose a picture. Ham Imaging can use your camera or your photo library to pick that image, and can save received or exported pictures back to your photo library when you ask it to.
- Images you pick are used only to build the SSTV transmission and your on-device gallery.
- Saving to the photo library happens only when you tap Save/Export. We never upload your photos anywhere.
- If you do not grant camera or photo access you can still receive pictures; you just won't be able to pick from those sources.
4. Transmitting on the Air (Images Are Public)
When you transmit, the app plays your picture out as sound so your radio can send it. On the air, amateur radio transmissions are public — anyone with a receiver may decode your image, and your callsign overlay identifies you.
- Transmission happens over the air through your own radio, not over the internet, and not through any Unixeer service.
- Keying the radio and putting a signal on the air is the licensed operator's own action and responsibility.
5. Licensing & Responsible Operation
Receiving pictures generally needs no licence. A valid amateur radio licence is required to transmit. You are solely responsible for operating within your licence class, privileges and local regulations, and for the content of your transmissions.
6. What We Do NOT Collect
- No Unixeer account, sign-up or login.
- No analytics, no crash-reporting telemetry sent to us.
- No device identifiers (no IDFA, no GAID).
- No advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.
- We never receive your callsign, grid, email, images or audio — they stay on your device.
7. Children's Privacy
Ham Imaging is intended for amateur radio operators and listeners. The app shows no advertising, has no in-app purchases, and sends no personal data to Unixeer. Transmitting requires a valid licence. The app is designed to comply with COPPA, GDPR-K and equivalent child-privacy frameworks.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
All settings, images and recordings are stored only on your device. To delete everything Ham Imaging holds, clear the app's data or uninstall it — that removes your stored callsign, grid, email, preferences and gallery. There is no Unixeer account or server data to request deletion of.
9. Network Activity & Third-Party Services
By design, Ham Imaging works fully offline for receiving and transmitting — it needs no internet connection to decode or send pictures. It opens your mail app when you tap "Send email" on the Support page, and a future release may deep-link to the companion Ham Satting app for satellite pass times. It uses standard open-source Flutter packages (such as shared_preferences, image_picker, url_launcher, permission_handler and the audio libraries) to do its job. Unixeer does not integrate any advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs.
10. Changes to This Policy
As Ham Imaging is in active development and more features (such as WEFAX and ATV/DATV references) are added, this policy may be updated to stay accurate. The current version will always appear at this URL and ship with the app.
