Last Updated: September 2026 · House rules version 1
The house rules, in one breath. Transmit only under a licence,
callsign and radio ID you are entitled to use. Zero tolerance for abuse. You are responsible for
everything you transmit. Mute any station that bothers you; report it and we
answer within 24 hours. Everyone agrees to this before their first transmission,
and can read it again any time from the flag beside "Recent talkers".
1. Who may transmit
Ham Voicing puts your voice on public amateur-radio networks. Listening needs no
licence, but transmitting does. By pressing PTT you confirm that you hold a valid
amateur radio licence, that you transmit only under a callsign and radio ID you are
entitled to use, and that you follow the conditions of your licence and the rules of each
network you connect to.
2. Zero tolerance for abuse
You agree not to transmit anything that is:
- harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation of anyone;
- hateful or demeaning toward people for who they are;
- obscene or sexual, or anything exploiting or endangering children;
- music, broadcasting, or deliberate interference with other stations
(holding a channel, noise, jamming a net);
- transmitted under a callsign or radio ID you are not entitled to use;
- illegal where you are, or an invitation to break the law.
There is no tolerance for any of it. You are responsible for everything you
transmit.
3. What you can do about a station that breaks the rules
- Mute it: tap the flag beside "Recent talkers" (on EchoLink,
beside "On this node") and choose Mute. You stop hearing that station at once,
and it stays muted after the app closes or its settings are reset. The station
is not told, and nobody else is affected.
- Report it from the same place. That mutes the station for you
and opens an email to us with the station, the network and the time filled in.
- A station is muted by the identity its network puts on the air — the radio ID
on DMR, NXDN and P25, the callsign on System Fusion, D-STAR, M17 and EchoLink.
AllStarLink does not say who is talking, only which node you are linked to, so it
cannot mute one station there: disconnect instead.
4. What we do with a report
We read every report and answer within 24 hours. Ham Voicing is a client: we do
not run these networks, cannot remove anyone from them, and see none of their
traffic. What a report does is silence the station on your phone immediately and
tell us about it, so that we can answer you. Only a network's own operators can act
on the air.
5. Not an emergency service
Amateur networks are run by volunteers and can be busy, quiet or unavailable at
any time. Do not rely on Ham Voicing where a life depends on getting through.
6. The app itself
Ham Voicing is provided free, as is, without warranty of any kind. We are not
liable for loss arising from its use, to the extent the law allows. It includes
open-source software under its own licences, listed in the app under About →
Licences & Notices and on the licences page. Your use
is also subject to the terms of the store you downloaded it from.
7. Privacy
What the app keeps on your phone, and what leaves it, is set out in the
privacy policy.
8. Changes
If these rules change in substance, the version number above goes up and the app
asks you to accept the new version before your next transmission.
